Jennifer fights for our families and local businesses. She strives to make a real difference in the lives of her neighbors. She works tirelessly to find common sense solutions that will garner strong support from in the community. This is in part why she was voted one of the most successful freshman legislators when she was in the State House.

This is absolutely why she is running today: “I know there are things I can do to make a big difference in the lives of Gulfportians…our families and local businesses deserve someone who will fight hard for them today and plan smart for them tomorrow. My family could have used this fighter when I was a kid.”

A week before her second birthday, her father died when his motorcycle was hit by a truck after coming home from the third shift. With help of an expansive family and a constellation of Catholic nuns and teachers, Jennifer’s mother raised her and her brother while fighting to retain minimum-wage, entry-level secretarial jobs to provide for her children. Jennifer understood at an early age how small changes made big differences in the peace of mind of her mother and in her mom’s ability to provide for them. This understanding - plus intense gratitude for the community that raised her, is the reason why she now strives each and every day to give back to our community.

Jennifer gives back to our community by tackling some of the most pressing problems for our families. Jennifer began her career at the intersection of workforce and economic development. She attracted employers to lower income communities and got people in these communities the skills they needed to do these jobs. She also developed training programs that would lead to higher skill and higher paid jobs, so people weren’t stuck in entry-level positions.

After earning her Masters from University of South Florida, Jennifer  taught faculty members how to conduct research with the community and how to teach hands-on classes that help Tampa Bay area residents. As the Director of Community Partnerships, Jennifer built projects that brought together businesses, the university, non-profits, and residents to create stronger communities. Through these projects, she worked to reduce violence and increase employment, to eliminate hunger, to bring justice to victims of crime and abuse of power, to assist student veterans and military members, and to support high quality public schools and the children who attend them.

Jennifer was elected in 2018 to the Florida House to represent then-district 69. She was voted one of the most effective Freshman legislators. During her first term much of her policy solutions became law and she was able secure $3.25 million in the budget for infrastructure and education projects. She was effective at protecting our waterways, expanding career/technical education, increasing access to mental health care and long term care, reforming insurance coverage for condo owners, and standing up for consumers.

Jennifer is now a small business owner in the private sector. Yet, she still brings together different sectors to solve some of our most pressing problems. Whether it is reducing the number of opioid overdoses, preparing for sea level rise in our coastal cities, or reducing partisan animosity through dialogue and increased trust in our democratic intuitions, Jennifer works with clients to shift culture, funding streams, and policy to create lasting change and communities that are more peaceful, healthier, and sustainable.

Jennifer Webb is running for Gulfport City Council so she can stand up for our hardworking neighbors, champion the final leg of our recovery, and provide a pathway into our future that works for those who have been here for 30 years or 30 months.
